Texas Tech vs Kansas State
Rotation #135
Texas Tech +1.5 over Kansas State (loss)
On paper I just can’t believe Kansas State beat Oklahoma. This is a team with no offensive line. On the two deep chart they have just one guy who started a college football game coming into this season and he only had two. The other 9 players never started a game. Oklahoma got lazy in that game and didn’t know how to put a team away. Texas Tech had the same problem with Texas, but this is more of a quick strike offense and I think they will overwhelm the Wildcats today. Texas Tech will win this game if they don’t allow any big plays on special teams. This is a team that has great receivers and QB Alan Bowman can get them the ball. Take Texas Tech.
Rotation #146
Kentucky -6.5 over Ole Miss (loss)
Ole Miss will sooner or later become a decent football team under Lane Kiffin, but this is a new coaching staff going on the road in the SEC. Kentucky is a team that will frustrate you when you bet them, but if they get the ground game going they are hard to stop. I don’t think the Rebels are going to be able to stop them early in the season with a new defensive coordinator. Kentucky is physically the more talented team in the trenches and should get themselves a nice conference home win this afternoon. Take Kentucky.
Rotation #157
Arkansas +16.5 over Mississippi State (win)
Arkansas/Mississippi State Over 69 (loss)
Mike Leach is a fan favorite coach, but we can’t take anything away from that week 1 win at LSU. The Tigers had so much turnover from their national championship team. Let’s not take anything away from this program. That was the most impressive win of the year. I just don’t think this team is ready to be monster favorites with a brand new coaching staff, in a new system with limited returning talent. Arkansas is not a great team, but they can run the ball and transfer Feleipe Franks has a lot of good quality targets. This is a Mississippi State secondary that doesn’t have much talent. Arkansas should put up points today. The Mike Leach system alone will make this like a UCF like pace. Both teams should put up a lot of points, but I think Arkansas hangs tough tonight. Take Arkansas and the Over. Both straight bets.
Rotation #159/160
Southern Miss/North Texas Over 73 (loss)
Southern Miss can’t stop anyone on defense and neither can North Texas. The cornerbacks for both teams just don’t have much talent as just about all of them never made a tackle before this year at this level of football. North Texas can run the ball and has a lot of really good targets on offense. I think the Mean Green score a ton of points. Jack Abraham lost a lot of his talented players from last year, but he still is a veteran QB that will pick this defense apart. This team will score a ton of points. If you like offense this should be an entertaining game. Take the Over.
