With every game down the stretch, the Mariners have felt the weight of elimination. After last night’s pitiful performance, they know the playoffs are out of reach and can play looser against Astros young starter Ethan Pecko, who has little big-league experience. The Astros bullpen did well last night, but overall has not been trending in a favorable direction. Seattle should be able to get on the board tonight after generating just 4 hits yesterday. Mariners starter George Kirby has been average down the stretch and has lacked strikeout power. Seattle’s bullpen hasn’t really impressed either. T-Mobile Park isn’t a hitter-friendly park, but tonight’s total is low, and I believe both teams can put up enough offense. Houston is in a dogfight with Texas for the AL West and will need to finish the season strong and certainly wouldn’t mind a punching bag after the Braves swept them in the last series. Take the Over.
