The Ben Johnson era is over in Minnesota as head coach Niko Medved comes over from Colorado State, looking to get the Gophers back in the mix of being competitive in the Big Ten, something they have not done in a decade. You can’t take a bunch of smaller conference transfers and become a powerhouse overnight. The Gophers don’t have a single player on their roster who started a game in a Power Four Conference last year. Missouri head coach Dennis Gates took his team from winless in the conference two years ago to a respectable winning record last year in the SEC. The Tigers are a long team that can play above the rim and consists of veteran players like Anthony Robinson and Mark Mitchell. Non-conference games are tricky because coaches are getting the back end of their bench figured out for conference play and trying out different combinations. The Tigers have the superior program at this point and time and should secure the home win. Take Missouri.
