Picks for 5/7/25

NBA

Rotation #555-556
Knicks/Celtics Under 211 (win)
The three-point line is the great equalizer in basketball. Boston relies heavily on it; they don’t have the personnel to win in the paint if they can’t connect. Sam Hauser is a great three-point shooter who has been downgraded to doubtful in this game. The Knicks did a great job defending the deep ball in game one and might have one less body to defend tonight. Both teams operate at a slow pace, and both teams are lousy at the foul line. The Celtics are the worst team in the NBA in the paint area. Look for a defensive half-court game with both teams operating slow enough to have that one dreadful quarter to ensure the game stays low-scoring, barring overtime. Take the Under.

Rotation # 975
Phillies -140 over Rays (win)
Sanchez/Baz
Tonight’s pitching matchup will be a good showdown between Phillies starter Christopher Sanchez and Rays starter Shane Baz. The problem for the Rays is that they are just about last in the league when facing lefties, and their bullpen is out of sorts after allowing four late-inning runs that put the game out of reach. Philly is a better team and should secure another road win. Take the Phillies.
