Remember, it’s a long season. Slow and steady. The Nationals have struggled the last few years, and it won’t get easier as they are projected to finish in the basement of the NL East again and don’t have the pitching or bullpen to keep up. The Pirates started red hot last year and are out to another hot start in 2024. Both teams struggled at the end of the year and need to play better to have any chance at a postseason bid. Pirates starter Mitch Keller had a breakout season in 2023 and is looking to be the leading man in Pittsburgh. The Pirates bullpen will be close to the top of the league and, at this point of the year, are much better than the Nationals. Pittsburgh’s hitting and pitching are better this year, and they should win another game on the road. I am not a fan of big money lines, and with so much bad weather across baseball to start the season, it’s best to play a run line. Take the Pirates run line -1.5 +105.
