The Brewers are in the driver’s seat after a masterpiece last night, highlighted by an eight-run fifth inning with two outs. The Rays appeared to escape the inning, but an overturned call after a challenge gave Milwaukee new life, and the Brewers made them pay. No team has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit in World Series history. After last night’s beating, the Rays certainly don’t want their season to end so embarrassingly. Deep down, they may have accepted their fate, but that could allow them to play more loosely with their backs against the wall. It’s fair to say Brewers starter Dustin May isn’t exactly the guy you want on the mound with a chance to clinch a World Series, especially considering his recent struggles with the long ball. The Rays have the pitching edge with Griffin Jax on the mound and will use anyone necessary to avoid elimination, whereas Milwaukee certainly won’t take that approach with a commanding series lead. It’s hard to overlook what happened last night, but today is a new day. Tampa Bay has been outstanding at home all season, and the team still has plenty of pride. I’ve given up on the Rays winning the World Series, but I haven’t given up on their ability to win a game, especially with the advantage on the mound. Take the Rays.
