Rotation # 619-620
Texas/Duke Over 153.5 (loss)
Texas enters the year with promise as they move on from the Rodney Terry era and bring in Sean Miller, who has won over 71% of his games coached. The Longhorns bring back talented players in Tramon Mark and Jordan Pope, and in the transfer portal, brought experienced players by acquiring Simeon Wilcher from St. John’s, Dailyn Swain from Xavier, and Camden Heide from Purdue. One issue Texas has is that they have injuries to its bigs. Matas Vokietaitis and Lassina Traore are not 100 percent, which is never a good sign when playing Duke. The Blue Devils are big and are excited to showcase four 5-star recruits, with Cameron Boozer being the most talked-about recruit this offseason. We should see flashes of brilliance from the Blue Devils’ first-year class, but being out of position on defense as a freshman in their first college game wouldn’t shock anyone. Duke might be young, but they will play above the rim with their size. Texas could be in for a long night if its injured big men can’t compete for quality minutes. You can never be sure how coaches approach the non-conference schedule, but Duke Head Coach Jon Scheyer should have his players on the attack, looking to wear down the Texas big men. Look for a high-scoring game. Take the Over.
