Miami -5 over Virginia (loss)
Virginia has a good QB in Brennan Armstrong. This is a team with great passing yard numbers, but a lot of it is smoke in mirrors as they racked up huge numbers against bad teams and also from playing from behind. This UVA Defense is awful against the run. If you can’t stop the run you simply can’t stop the run. There is nothing you can do to fix it. Miami will probably start Tyler Van Dyke at QB tonight for the banged up D’Eriq King. Truth be told King has been banged up all season and isn’t really an asset being hurt. This is a great group of receivers and they they get Jaylan Knighton back from suspension to help their run game. Virginia probably will get Wayne Taulapapa back at running back and Brennan Armstrong is a mobile QB so they will move the ball. I really don’t have issue with this offense. I think this unit is as capable as any ACC team, but they are just really bad on defense and on the road that is the kiss of death. Miami had a get right game against Central Connecticut which is much lesser competition, but it helped the two backup QB’s and I think they will be ready to run this offense tonight. I think the general public is looking at King being out and making their decision based on just that alone. The key to this game is the UVA lack of defense on the road. Nothing good happens when you fail to stop the run at historically bad clips. Take Miami.
