Rotation #143-144
WVU/Pitt Over 51.5  (win)
WVU enters 2022, returning only four of its top eleven tacklers from a year ago. The Mountaineers will be without the services of their top five tacklers from last year, as many transfers have hurt this defense. It makes you wonder why so many guys would leave a school with the same staff. Pitt is an excellent team, and the number one thing on everyone’s mind is how they will perform without Kenny Pickett. Kedon Slovis is a transfer QB from USC who threw 58 touchdowns in his career. Pitt’s running game returns from last year, as does their entire offensive line. Pitt brings in a few critical transfers on offense this year and a new offensive coordinator. Frank Cignetti likes to call running plays, and he should have success with his veteran offensive line and good running backs.

Kedon Slovis will take advantage when the opportunity strikes to connect against a weak secondary. Another thing to note is that WVU has no depth on defense and is razor-thin in the secondary. WVU cannot substitute decent players when needed at this point in the year. I think WVU can score some points with TJ Daniels under center. Daniels is a transfer from Georgia and was a QB at the highest level of competition. New Coordinator Graham Harrell will call a few big passing plays for Daniels to cash in. The Mountaineer offensive line returns everyone from last year but must improve. I think this will turn into a decent football game with Pitt pulling away with their depth in the second half. I think the point spread has little value to it in week one. Mistakes happen, but I believe that will help the scoring. Take the Over.
