Carolina and Chicago are among the worst teams in the NFL, but the Bears have the edge tonight. The Panthers have a brand new coaching staff that has yet to win on the road in 2023. It’s tough to win on the road in this league, so the advantage is with the home crowd Bears. Tonight’s game should be an old-school smashmouth football, so we should see a lot of running. Chicago running back D’onta Forman has been playing well, and the Bears are getting Khalil Herbert off IR. Carolina is the worst defense in the league at stopping the run. I am trying to remember a team with this many injuries to their linebackers. The majority of them are on IR. Brian Burns is also out tonight, leaving the Panthers’ front seven in pretty bad shape. Bears QB Tyson Bagnet will probably not beat you with his arm, but he has a motor and can run the ball. The Bears are excited about the return of Braxton Jones on the offensive line. The Chicago running game should control the line of scrimmage. The Panthers’ running game could be better, and shockingly, the Bears’ defense is the best in the NFL at stopping the run. Panthers QB Bryce Young isn’t good enough yet to dominate the secondary, so this is a big win for Chicago. Teams that can’t run the ball or stop the run don’t typically do well on the road. A short week makes it end worse. Take the Bears.
