The 49ers were in uncharted territory heading into last week’s game with the Bears. A season that looked wasted now has a pulse due to teams in the NFC West being unable to pull away. The 49ers dismantled Chicago and have newfound momentum. The Rams’ playoff hopes looked bleak a few weeks ago, but their play has improved as they are getting healthier. Los Angeles picked apart the Bill’s defense last weekend and is on a roll. The 49ers defense will get Dre Greenlaw back and are happy to have Talanoa Hufanga back in the secondary. San Francisco’s issues are on offense, as they lack quality running backs. The 49ers will throw the ball a lot against a Los Angeles defense, which is suspect. Rams cornerback Cobie Durant will not participate tonight, leaving multiple 49ers receivers on an island with backups. Defensive game planning is hard enough on a short week of preparation. Look for Matthew Stafford and Brock Purdy to have great games. Ultimately, the 49ers defense will make more plays, and the home crowd will be enough for the 49ers to win. Take the 49ers and the Over. Iowa State is a bigger, stronger, more experienced, and deeper team than Iowa. The Cyclones are the nation’s #3 team and play outstanding defense. T.J. Otzelberger has done a great job turning the program around, which was winless in the BIG 12 just a few years ago. The Cyclones return their top four productive players from a year ago, led by seniors Keshon Gilbert and Curtis Jones. The Cyclones’ defense will slow down the fast-paced Hawkeyes, and the guard play will be too much for Iowa to handle. Look for the Cyclones to handle business in their first road game of the young season. Take Iowa State.
