Rotation #459
Jaguars -4.5 over Colts (win)
The Colts open up the 2023 season with a new coaching staff. QB Anthony Richardson, a product from the University of Florida, will be the starter. Top running back Jonathan Taylor will be out until October, and Zach Moss will miss today’s game. The Colts have an excellent offensive line, but we need to find out how much good it will do with a weak running game and a new QB. The Jags will again look to be the top team in the AFC South this year. Jacksonville brings back their entire defense from last season, and on offense, QB Trevor Lawrence looks to make the jump to an elite QB. Travis Etienne should have another good year running the ball, and the Jags have a lot of offensive weapons for Lawrence to throw to. Jacksonville should start the season with a big win on the road. Take the Jags.

Rotation #464
Saints -3 over Titans (loss)
The Titans will look to get back to the playoffs this year after missing them last year. Ryan Tannehill runs the offense at QB again. Derek Henry is always a feared running back, but I wonder if he will tail off as he gets older. What I don’t like about the Titans is their patchjob offensive line. The Titans return just one starter on the line from a year ago, and the Saints front seven will be licking their chops today. Derek Carr takes over the starting QB position for the Saints, and the opposite of the Titans, they have a rock-solid offensive line that returns starters and has tremendous depth. Running back Alvin Kamara will be out a few weeks due to suspension, but Jamaal Williams will look to be the main guy. Both defenses are good, but the game-changer in today’s game is the offensive line for the Saints and the lack of it by the Titans. The Saints’ big men should pave the way for big runs and give Carr time to find his receivers. Take the Saints.

Rotation #468
Commanders -7 over Cardinals (loss)
The Cardinals will be without QB Kyler Murray for a while. Arizona is breaking in a new coaching staff and could have done better in the offseason regarding blue-chip acquisitions on the defense. The Sam Howell era starts in Washington this afternoon. Howell was an outstanding QB at UNC and ran an offense, making him ready to play pro football. Brian Robison returns at running back, and the Commanders have a lot of playmakers on offense. Washington is trying to upgrade their offensive line to get more time to throw deep down the field to guys like Terry McLaurin. Commanders head coach Ron Rivera has the experience edge today and should lead his team to a home victory. Take the Commanders.

Rotation #476
Patriots +3.5 over Eagles (loss)
The Eagles have a lot of offensive talent that starts with the arm of QB Jalen Hurts. Philly is breaking in a new offensive coordinator and a new running back that will go up against a great New England defense. Patriots QB Mac Jones is looking to take his play to the next level and will get help at running back with the signing of Ezekiel Elliot. The Eagles’ defense lost their top five tacklers from a season ago, making it tough on them in the first couple of weeks. The Eagles are favored by too much on the road, considering their defense is a question mark to start the year. Take the Patriots.

Rotation #478
Seahawks -4.5 over Rams (loss)
The Rams’ offense will be without Cooper Kupp for a while, but their real problem is on defense. LA lost 7 of their top 11 tacklers from a year ago and did next to nothing in free agency to get better. It will be tough for Matthew Stafford to move the ball with an offense line that returns one starter that lasted the entire season a year ago. Look for Seattle QB Geno Smith to have a big day and for Kenneth Walker to go off today. Seattle has a lot of targets that the Rams will need more quality defenders in the secondary to cover. Aaron Donald is the best defender in the league, but he is just one man. The Los Angeles defense will be the downfall of their team this season. Take the Seahawks.
