NFL Picks for 10/9/22

Rotation #454
Saints -5 over Seahawks (win)
I don’t have much confidence in Geno Smith and a banged-up running game on the road. Seattle has two rookie tackles on each side that won’t be able to stop the New Orleans front seven. Andy Dalton gets the start for the Saints today. Dalton is a veteran QB that should manage the game well by handing off to Alvin Kamara and hitting receivers open when necessary. New Orleans is a dink-and-dunk team, so I believe most quarterbacks are capable of running this offense. Take the Saints.

Rotation #454
Patriots -3 over Lions (win)
Patriots/Lions over 46.5 (loss)

WThe Lions are not a bad team with Jared Goff at quarterback, but their defense lets them down. The Patriots will start Bailey Zappe in place of the injured Mac Jones today. New England can lean on the running game and take advantage of the Lions’ poor front four. New England has a few defensive injuries that Detroit should be able to exploit today. The weather in Foxboro is perfect football weather. Take the Patriots and the Over.

Rotation #472
Panthers +6.5 over 49ers (loss)
Panthers/49ers Over 39.5 (win)

It will be another perfect fall day for football in Charlotte, NC. The 49ers come to town with Jimmy G back at quarterback and a running game that doesn’t exist right now. To win on the road, you need to run the ball well. The 49ers will abandon the run today, throwing against a weak Panthers secondary. I believe the 49ers will score, but they will also have trouble holding any lead because they can’t chew up and clock by running the ball. Carolina should take advantage of the 49ers’ defensive line, missing Javon Kinlaw and Arik Armstead today. Look for the Panthers to run the ball right into the middle of the 49ers’ defense today. Baker Mayfield should have a balanced attack today between his receivers and his running game. I like the Panthers to cover and home and think it will sneak over this low total. Take the Panthers and the Over.

Rotation #477
Bengals +3 over Ravens (win)
The Bengals looked shaky the first few weeks of the year but have been flawless the last two weeks. Cincinnati is a high pace team, and if they get the lead, it will be hard for Baltimore to keep up due to their slow pace running style of play. The Bengals have a good offensive line, and the offense should take advantage of a few injuries on the Ravens’ defense. Cincinnati has a great secondary that can make tackles and create turnovers. Tonight’s game will be a contest of two styles. I think the fast pace offense wins out in this matchup. Take the Bengals.
