Picks for 10/18/26

NFL
Patriots -7.5 over Jets (loss)
Rotation #264 / 1:00 PM ET

The Patriots are excited to welcome A.J. Brown back to the field today and are optimistic that TreVeyon Henderson can join Rhamondre Stevenson in the backfield. Drake Maye should have opportunities to attack a Jets secondary that has struggled to force turnovers. On the other side, it’s difficult to trust the Jets’ running game on the road without Breece Hall. New York also lacks receiver depth and will miss Adonai Mitchell. Geno Smith will struggle to find open receivers downfield, especially with Christian Gonzalez back in New England’s secondary. The Patriots should control this matchup and eventually pull away for a double-digit victory. Take the Patriots.

NFL
Panthers -3 over Eagles (win)
Rotation #273 / 1:00 PM ET

The Eagles have lost significant starting talent over the past few weeks. The offensive line took a major hit with Lane Johnson retiring and Cam Jurgens being traded. Injuries have also decimated the backfield, with Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, and Will Shipley out. To make matters worse, Jalen Hurts is now expected to miss at least four weeks because of a blood clot. This is the National Football League, and you cannot lose that much offensive talent and expect to pick up where you left off. Philadelphia was already struggling before these losses. The Eagles still have a talented defense that can keep them competitive, but that’s a lot to overcome. Carolina benefits from continuity within its coaching staff, while Bryce Young and Chuba Hubbard have developed strong chemistry in the backfield. This is one of those matchups where you trust the healthier, more cohesive team and let the game play out. At this price, I see no reason not to back Carolina. If the Panthers can’t capitalize on this opportunity, then so be it. Take the Panthers.

NFL
Rams -12.5 over Cardinals (pending)
Rotation #278 / 4:05 PM ET

The Rams let a tough Monday Night Football game against Buffalo slip away last week and then released their kicker. Los Angeles will look to bounce back against an Arizona team dealing with major personnel issues. The Cardinals’ secondary is a mess, with Johnson, Wingard, and Williams sidelined. Budda Baker also missed practice yesterday while nursing a groin injury and is clearly less than 100%. The Rams have a balanced attack, with Kyren Williams and Blake Corum in the backfield, creating opportunities for Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, and Colby Parkinson. Arizona has its own backfield concerns, with Jeremiah Love ruled out and Tyler Allgeier expected to handle most of the carries. Both teams have big, physical receivers who can make plays, but I don’t think the Cardinals have enough offensive balance to move the ball against Los Angeles consistently. The Rams should dictate the tempo and create plenty of scoring opportunities. Take the Rams.

NFL
Cowboys +1.5 over Packers (pending)
Rotation #283 / 8:20 PM ET

The Cowboys are coming off an embarrassing home loss to Tampa Bay 10 days ago, a game in which the Buccaneers started a rookie quarterback. Meanwhile, Green Bay is fresh off a blowout victory over Chicago. Despite those contrasting performances, oddsmakers have made the Packers only slight favorites, and I agree. Green Bay continues to deal with offensive line injuries and is missing running back Josh Jacobs. The Packers are also without Jayden Reed, while Skyy Moore will miss tonight’s game. Dallas has a size advantage on the offensive line and big, physical receivers who can win contested catches against the Green Bay secondary. Javonte Williams should provide enough production on the ground to open up the passing game for CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. The Packers could also struggle to generate consistent pressure with Javon Hargrave and Micah Parsons still sidelined. Dallas has the personnel to exploit these weaknesses and should be in an excellent position to win outright. Take the Cowboys.
