NFL Picks for 10/16/22

Rotation # 253-254
Bengals/Saints Over 43 (win)
Jameis Winston is active today but will serve as the backup.  It doesn’t matter who the QB is in the Saints system, as they run the ball well and dink and dunk down the field.  Andy Dalton is a capable backup for this system, and Taysom Hill always does something electric.  Alvin Kamara should soften the Bengals’ defense up enough for the passing game to get going.  Joe Burrow will look to damage today and use his running game with Joe Mixon to keep the defense guessing.  Both teams have excellent offensive lines that give their quarterbacks enough time to make plays.  Look for a higher-scoring game.  Take the Over.

Rotation # 255
Jaguars +1.5 over Colts (loss)
The Jaguars have looked decent this year with their new staff and are playing in a big divisional game on the road this afternoon. I believe Jacksonville can win this game because Matt Ryan will not have his top two running backs to hand the ball off or throw short check-down passes. Trevor Lawrence has been improving, and James Robinson is an excellent running back. Jacksonville has a lot of weapons on offense, while the aging Matt Ryan will not have a running game today. I think Jacksonville will move the ball today and will get the upset win.  Take the Jaguars.

Rotation # 260
Packers -7.5 over Jets (loss)
Everyone is writing the Packers off. I do get it because they have played poorly, but at the same time, people are making the Jets out like a playoff team. Zach Wilson is a young quarterback playing in a tough building today. Aaron Rodgers was embarrassed by blowing a big half-time lead to the Giants, but remember that game was in London, and crazy things happen on neutral sites. AJ Dillon and Aaron Jones should run the ball well, opening the passing game for Rodgers to find many great targets. The Jets drew a hungry team at the wrong time. Look for Green Bay to get right at home today. Take the Packers.

Rotation # 261
Ravens -5.5 over Giants (loss)
In a promotional game in London, the Giants beat Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, and everyone is losing their mind. Did you know that the Giants are the only home underdog where more money is coming in on them? I don’t put too much stock into where the money is, but home dogs that get the public’s backing almost always let you down. The Giants have few weapons on offense, as three top receivers are out today. The Giants will have a tough time moving the ball against the Baltimore defense. Lamar Jackson is a nightmare as he is a talented dual-threat quarterback. Mark Andrews is one of the best tight ends in football right now, so it will be hard for New York to slow them down. Baltimore should dominate on the road today. Take the Ravens

Rotation # 271-272
Bills/Chiefs Over 54 (loss)
The Bills are known for great defense, but right now, due to many injuries, good teams can throw the ball on their banged-up secondary. Patrick Mahomes looked like his old self last week as he found Travis Kelce four times last week for touchdowns. The running game doesn’t have to do much but is capable when called on. Both teams have great offensive lines that should open many throwing and running lanes today. Josh Allen will look to take advantage of a Chiefs team that has many injuries at the cornerback position. Both teams have plenty of targets and can move the ball downfield quickly. Look for a lot of points. Take the Over.
