NFL Picks for 1/1/23

Rotation #115
Bears +5.5 over Lions (loss)
Bears/Lions Over 53.5 (loss)
The Bears have been eliminated and need to get primetime spots for the country to see them play.  Justin Fields is arriving in the league and is ready to break out for next year.  The Lions’ defense is one of the worst in the NFL, and the Bears will not give in to a divisional foe.  Chicago has a decent running game, and fields is a duel-threat QB with lightning-fast speed.  The Bears should put up a lot of points and put themselves in a position for an upset.  Jared Goff is playing well for the Lions and has a lot of good targets.  The Lions also have a decent running game to keep a balanced attack.  The Bears’ secondary is decimated by injury, as you will see a lot of players in the secondary that will need to catch up today.  Look for a shootout in perfect dome conditions.  Take the Bears and the Over.

Rotation #128
Packers -3 over Vikings (win)
The Vikings have done a fantastic job winning football games this year. Lost in the shuffle is the Vikings’ defense is one of the worst in the league. I looked at the Vikings’ schedule and was shocked to see their last game not played in a dome was in early November. It’s not too cold today, but it’s not 70 and smoke-free indoors. The Packers’ defense is playing well as they hold on for playoff hope. The Vikings’ first-year staff has overachieved and will be in for a test against Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers has a lot of his targets back, and they can run the football. Today’s game will have a playoff atmosphere with a wild crowd. Take the Packers.

Rotation #130
Chargers -6.5 over Rams (win)
The Rams organization is a mess and dominated a more dysfunctional team than last week. The Rams are out of the playoffs, but the Chargers are. The Chargers need to keep playing well for seeding. The Rams peaked the previous week against a banged-up Denver defense. The Broncos were known for their top-rated Defense, but they fired their head coach, and many players missed last week. The Rams played well, but it’s a new week and a new scenario. Joey Bosa returns today to gear up for the Chargers’ playoff run. Look for the Chargers’ front seven to put pressure on Baker Mayfield. The Chargers are a well-balanced attack and should dominate their NFC rivals that share the same stadium.
