Rotation # 109
Chiefs -1.5 over Eagles (loss)
The Super Bowl is not a game; it’s an event. Half-time is longer, and everything leading up to kickoff is a big party. What is a fact about this matchup is that Eagles QB Jalen Hurts hasn’t won a Super Bowl, and neither has the Philadelphia coaching staff. Chiefs coach Andy Reid and coordinators Matt Nagy and Steve Spagnuolo have won the big game. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the big game a couple of times as well. The Chiefs are trying for a three-peat, rare in modern-day sports. The NFL is a business, and as annoying as it gets seeing Taylor Swift, she is responsible for bringing in millions of new fans. Again, it’s a business.
The Eagles certainly have the talent to win the Super Bowl. Saquon Barkley is having a banner year. The offensive line is humongous and can open up shipping lane-like holes, but I didn’t like how they played in the conference championship game. If Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens still show signs of being hobbled, the Eagles could be in for a long day. The Chiefs’ rush defense has limited the number of 20+ yard plays this year. They can’t allow Barkley and the Eagles to strike quickly. I trust Mahomes more than Hurts in the passing game. The Eagles’ passing offense was one the worst in the NFL during the regular season, so they will have a tough time catching up if they get down on the scoreboard by a large margin. Kansas City was also better on their third-down conversion rates this season. The Super Bowl will come down to a handful of plays that are impossible to predict. Kansas City was flawless in a one-score game, which will help tremendously if the game is tight. Both teams have the talent to win this game, but we will go with Kansas City due to the experience and coaching factor. Take the Chiefs.
