Rotation # 169-170
Wisconsin/Rutgers Under 44 (loss)
We should be in for an old-school smash-mouth football game. Both teams like to run the football and are not known for being risk-takers. Nothing beats totals more than teams going for it from their 25-yard line. Neither coach is going to do that. Wisconsin is thin at receiver, as their most experienced players are nursing lower-body injuries. Rutgers doesn’t have a home run hitter that scares opponents. Both head coaches will look to control the clock and shorten the game to their advantage. Rutgers running back Kyle Monangai and Wisconsin running back Tawee Walker will have their explosive moments, but I can’t see a scenario where it amounts to a high-scoring game. Take the Under.

Rotation # 200
Iowa -2.5 over Washington (win)
Washington has been racking up travel miles in their first BIG 10 season. I’m not too fond of the Huskies’ offensive line on the road in this environment, as experience is lacking. Iowa Heach Coach Kirk Ferentz does so much with little offensive production year after year because he stresses mistake-free football and defense and always runs the ball well. Cade McNamara is a good game manager who hands the ball off and lets the running game run wild behind a solid offensive line. After the Hawkeyes lure you to sleep, they hit you with a deep pass. It’s hard to win on the road and will be challenging for the Huskies with so many new pieces on their team. Take Iowa.

Rotation # 127
CAL +3.5 over Pitt (win)
Pitt, a team with remarkable resilience, has done a fantastic job getting into the top 25. The Panthers have stolen back multiple games that should have been losses. It’s hard to continuously peak with a 175-pound running back in Desmond Reid and a freshman QB. CAL has a great defense. Peter Sirmon has done a fine job as defensive coordinator. Head Coach Justin Wilcox will fly his team across the country to try to beat a top-25 opponent. Jayden Ott is a dynamic running back who can keep the shifty and lightning-quick Pitt offense off the field. The Bears are a physical team that will avoid getting tricked by exotic packages the Panthers throw at them. The Bears need to control the clock and use their muscle. This game promises to be a thrilling battle. Take Cal.

Rotation # 139
Louisville -7 over Virginia (loss)
Louisville has now lost two straight and is looking for a punching bag. Virginia looked dead in the water last week, and then Boston College stopped playing for some reason. The Cavs are still a 2-6 ACC team from a year ago and aren’t in the same class as the Louisville program. Virginia has a lot of issues in the secondary. The Brohm coaches will look to attack downfield early and often. Cardinals QB Tyler Shough brings a dual-threat approach that might be too much for Virginia to handle. The Cavs are nursing injuries at receiver, so the Cardinals should be able to limit the big play. Take Louisville.

Rotation # 185
Texas -16.5 over Oklahoma (win)
The Red River Rivalry is always an exciting game. Texas is the top team in the nation and will have Quinn Ewers back under center. The Longhorns were near perfect in the BIG 12 last year, with their only loss coming from the Sooners’ hands in this matchup. Oklahoma is missing a lot of talent from last year’s team, as the injury bug hit the receiver room as hard as possible. Oklahoma misses Dillon Gabriel’s duel threat ability under center as he transferred to Oregon. The Sooners have a new identity at offense under coordinator Seth Littrell. Being as short-handed as they are, it will be hard for them to be on the same page. Take Texas.

Rotation # 187
Ole Miss -3.5 over LSU (loss)
It’s tough to go into Baton Rouge at night and win against a hostile LSU crowd, but the linemakers were correct in making the Rebels a favorite. Ole Miss is one of the most complete teams in football, as they have talent and depth across the board. LSU is breaking in new coordinators on both sides of the ball and is working with a different talent than in the past. The Tigers are thin at linebacker, so expect Lane Kiffin to attack with his running game, leading to open pass plays. The Rebels have an extensive offensive line and a massive defensive line. Look for the Rebels to control the trenches. Take Ole Miss.
