Picks for 11/16/24

Rotation # 397-398
Michigan State/Illinois UNDER 47.5 (loss)
We should witness an old-school BIG 10 matchup between Michigan State and Illinois. It will be a crisp day in Champaign, IL, and the winds could knock a field goal or two off the track. Look for both teams to run the ball, which will chew the clock. Michigan State has not been competitive in the last few weeks and lacks a solid offensive line to continuously move the ball up and down the field. Neither team wows you with their offensive play and lacks top-tier talent in the red zone. Neither team comes into this contest confidently, as they have lost their last few games. Look for a low-scoring game. Take the Under.

Rotation # 403
Oregon -14 over Wisconsin (loss)
#1 ranked Oregon will find a way to get their points like usual. The Ducks have so many weapons on offense. Dillon Gabriel is an outstanding quarterback looking for a deep playoff run. Wisconsin has a solid running game and an offensive line, but they don’t have the receivers to keep up in this contest. If Oregon gets out to a sizeable lead, there is a slim chance the Badgers can get back into the game, as their receiver room doesn’t have adequate talent to keep up with the top-ranked team in football. Take Oregon.

Rotation # 379-380
Tennessee/Georgia Over 47 (win)
Georgia is happy to be back home after the beatdown they took at Ole Miss last week. Carson Beck looked like a deer in headlights as the Rebels demolished him. Tennessee looked solid in the previous month of play and got the good news that QB Nico Iamaleava will play after a concussion. The Vols have a massive offensive line that will look to open up lanes for Dylan Sampson and the running game. The Vols are an uptempo team and will look to push the pace on a Georgia team unsure of how elite they indeed are. The Bulldogs will have to get aggressive on offense, or they won’t keep up with Tennessee. Long, methodical drives lead to mistakes. Carson Beck will protect the ball better and get back into his grove. Look for a higher-scoring game. Take the Over.

Rotation # 363
Kansas +2.5 over BYU (win)
Tonight’s betting line might be too good to be true for public bettors. BYU is the #6 team in the nation, facing a Kansas team that is a long shot even to get a bowl bid. Why did the oddsmakers make BYU such a slight favorite at home? Kansas has been playing much better, and QB Jalon Daniels looks to have recovered from his early-season slump. The Jayhawks have a lot of talent and won this matchup last year. Despite what the records show, the talent gap is still pretty close. BYU is a well-coached football team, but are they better than their 9-0 record? The Cougars have not looked impressive the last few weeks against inferior competition. Kansas has not had a signature win all season and has an outstanding chance to do so on paper today. Look for Devin Neal to have a decent day on the ground, allowing Daniels an easier time to throw to his talented receivers.
Take Kansas.

College Basketball

Rotation # 620
Indiana -7.5 over South Carolina (win)
The Gamecocks had a great SEC run last year but lost their top three players from a year ago. The Hoosiers brought back outstanding players like Trey Galloway, Malik Reneau, and Mackenzie Mgbako and brought in key talent from last year’s PAC 12 in big man Oumar Ballo and Myles Rice. The Hoosiers have the size advantage and will look for a double-digit home win at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall by pushing a tempo the Gamecocks can’t keep up. Take Indiana.
