Rotation # 879-880
Wake Forest/Memphis Over 159.5 (loss)
Memphis looked great last night against #1 Purdue, getting to the foul line much more often and flustering the Purdue bigs with their athleticism. Purdue won the game, but it easily could have gone the other way. One notable thing about the Memphis schedule is that, aside from UNLV, they have played slow-paced teams, which will not be the case tonight against a fast-tempo Wake Forest team. The Tigers might not be able to bring the same defensive intensity after the quick turnaround. Wake Forest lost a tight game to Texas Tech as they look to build on their winning campaign from last year in the ACC. Both teams will look to have fun in the consolation game in the Bahamas and should put up a lot of offense. Take the Over.

Rotation # 882
Purdue -3.5 over Texas Tech (win)
I didn’t like how Purdue played for most of the game last night, but they should play better tonight against a team that doesn’t play at the same tempo as Memphis. Texas Tech has a lot of youth on its team, and aside from JT Toppin and Christian Anderson, it doesn’t have anyone who started a game in a major conference last year. Purdue returns the bulk of their starters from a season ago. Look for Braden Smith to lead the way, with the Boilermakers’ bigs doing a better job at securing rebounds and getting to the charity stripe. The Boilermakers are the #1 team in the nation, looking to win the Title Game in the Bahamas. It doesn’t mean much, but any chance you get to grab hardware, you take it. Red Raiders Grant McCasland is a great coach and will have his team ready for conference play, but at this point in the year, the team lacks overall camaraderie and experience. Take Purdue.

Rotation # 886
Nebraska -1.5 over Kansas State (loss)
Tonight’s game will be another neutral-court matchup in Kansas City. Both teams are looking to turn the corner to become more competitive in conference play. Nebraska returns more experience and was excited to get Rienk Mast back after he did not participate last season. Mast is the big body needed to secure rebounds and to get easy buckets in the paint and at the foul line. The Wildcats are thrilled with Memphis transfer PJ Haggerty, but I question their depth at this point in the year. The Cornhuskers are a veteran team that has played far more minutes at the major-conference level. Sam Hoiberg is a great guard and a well-rounded player, as he plays a foot taller than he is on the glass. I like the Cornhuskers more at this point in the year. Take Nebraska.
