Picks for 4/24/26

NBA

Rotation # 539-540
Spurs/Blazers Over 220.5
As of 4 PM EST, the status of Spurs center Victor Wembanyama is in question due to the concussion he suffered in Game 2. More often than not, a player with a concussion would miss the next game. Making assumptions can get you crushed in this industry, but I lean more toward him not playing. The Spurs lineup would get smaller and would most likley bump the tempo a bit. San Antonio is the much better team and could still win without him, but one advantage the Trail Blazers have is their scrappiness in getting second-chance points. Not having Wembanyama in the way, or limiting his minutes, would help the Portland offense avoid wasted trips down the floor. Donovan Clingan should be able to get offense rebound, and Robert Williams getting more playing time helps the Blazers on the offensive boards as well. It’s hard to trust the Trailblazers even though they are at home because they can’t protect the basketball and cough it up more than any team in the NBA. The Spurs should get plenty of fastbreak opportunities tonight. Portland certainly isn’t the same team with Damian Lillard out for the year, but Scoot Henderson stepped up tremendously the other night and will look to back up his 31-point performance. Look for the tempo to speed up and for both teams to do enough to make it a higher-scoring game. Take the Over.

MLB
10:15 PM EST
Rotation # 957-958
Cubs/Dodgers Over 9 runs
Taillon/Sheehan
Dodger Stadium has produced the most home runs over the last few years, so we should see a few long balls tonight as the wind will be blowing out. Los Angeles has the highest slugging percentage in baseball against right-handed pitching, producing the most home runs and RBIs. The Cubs have not played that many road games, but they have a high slugging percentage on the road. The Chicago offense is playing well, coming off a sweep of the Phillies, which included three home runs last night. Ian Happ, Nico Hoerner, Michael Busch, and Seiya Suzuki all went deep in the last series and will look to continue their power hitting at Dodger Stadium. Look for both teams to do enough to make it a high-scoring affair. Take the Over.
