Padres -135 over Cubs (win)
Rotation #908 / 10:00 PM EST
Nick Pivetta vs. Kevin Gausman (Listed Pitchers)

The Cubs suffered a demoralizing loss last night as the Padres took control from the first pitch with a leadoff home run, and the momentum is firmly with San Diego. The Padres remain red-hot in September, posting MLB’s best slugging percentage this month. They are well-suited for postseason small ball, but the power has been there as well. San Diego also owns the stronger bullpen, while Chicago’s relief pitching struggled down the stretch. Nick Pivetta, much like Michael King last night, has been outstanding at Petco Park, posting a 0.69 ERA over his last three home starts. Meanwhile, Cubs starter Kevin Gausman struggled in his most recent road appearance. With Pivetta on the mound, the stronger bullpen behind him, and an offense swinging the bats well, the Padres have the talent and momentum to wrap up the series tonight. Take San Diego.
