Rotation # 733
Georgia Tech +7.5 over CAL (win)
You are never too confident wagering on a team that’s just 2-7 in conference play, especially when it’s flying to the opposite coast to play a road game. Still, CAL was one of the worst teams in the ACC last year, and although they have improved, I am not sure they should be big favorites, especially with Lee Dort out of the lineup. Dort is the Golden Bears’ best rebounder. Rytis Petratis was a big impact player in last year’s matchup between the teams, and he is out for the season, leaving CAL thin at forward, though transfers John Camden and Chris Bell have played well so far. Georgia Tech, like most teams at this point in the year, has its own injuries. Mouhamed Sylla is still in a walking boot and remains out. The Yellow Jackets are comfortable at upping the pace and should keep this game close. Baye Ndongo will look to win in the paint, and Lamar Washington should find open teammates and create turnovers. Another small advantage for the road team is that the game starts early, so it’s not too taxing on the body clock. The Yellow Jackets have proven they can win on the road as they just upset NC State a few games back. Take Georgia Tech.
