Rotation # 405
Broncos -13.5 over Chiefs
Denver is currently the #1 seed in the AFC, while Kansas City will miss the playoffs for the first time in 12 years. The Chiefs are built around Patrick Mahomes. There was no plan for Gardner Minshew, and certainly none to run the offense under Chris Oladokun. Kansas City is starting their 3rd-string quarterback, and their offensive line has both starting tackles on IR, with a few backup tackles on the shelf as well. The Broncos can’t slip up as they are in a tight divisional battle with the Chargers that will play itself out when they meet next weekend. The storyline will be about Travis Kelce’s last game at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs are a football team that demands excellence, and now that they have nothing to play for, they are in uncharted territory. I find it hard to believe they will put up a fight tonight. Denver QB Bo Nix should be able to pick on the Chiefs’ cornerbacks as their top two starters, Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, were placed on IR this week. We will take the Broncos and let the spread take care of itself. I don’t see a scenario where QB Chris Oladokun keeps his team in the game, especially with a patchwork offensive line. Oladokun has never thrown a TD pass in the NFL. Chances are, the young quarterback, like most young quarterbacks, will gift wrap Denver points as he doesn’t have his timing down with his receivers and isn’t good enough to avoid sacks this early in his career. Throw in a few penalties from the offensive line, and it won’t be easy to move the ball against the Denver defense. The Broncos’ specialty is stopping the run, so I don’t see much momentum in the Chiefs’ offensive cards. Kansas City holds thier own on defense and with the home crowd should play well until the floodgates open up. The Chiefs’ current offense is not built to play from behind, and it will likely make things worse when they try. Take the Broncos.
