Rotation # 613
Texas A&M -3.5 over Pitt (win)
It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but Pitt is running a seven-man rotation right now and can’t afford to get into foul trouble or to have key players foul out against an Aggies team that plays at a fast pace. Bucky McMillan has done a fine job in his first season so far. The Aggies are full of newcomers, none more valuable than Ruben Dominguez, who brings high-level experience from his home country, Spain. Rashaun Agee is playing well on the glass and will try to limit the Panthers’ shots. Pitt plays at a slower pace, and I question if they will be able to keep up or keep the Aggies off the foul line. Take Texas A&M.

Rotation # 657
UConn -2.5 over Kansas (win)
There once was a time when Kansas Coach Bill Self had more conference titles than home losses. Kansas is a top-level program, but far removed from the absolute powerhouse it once was. UConn was in the same boat last year, as they didn’t play to Huskie standards. Still, there is no denying they have more experience and better shooters than the Jayhawks do at this time, especially with the sensational freshman Darryn Peterson on the sideline. Both Bill Self and Dan Hurley preach effort on defense, but when it comes to offensive basketball, the Huskies have the clear edge. Alex Karaban is excellent around the bucket, and Solo Ball is an outstanding guard. Georgia transfer Silas Demary is a phenomenal floor general who makes life easier for the Huskies’ skilled players. Allen Fieldhouse is a tough place to play, but the Huskies are well-rounded and should get a big road victory. Take UConn.

Rotation # 666
CAL -8.5 over Utah (loss)
Utah has beaten Cal in the last six meetings, so it’s interesting to see the Golden Bears as big favorites. The Utes have already lost to programs that have no business beating a power conference team, and simply put, have not looked good. It will take new head coach Alex Jensen time to get the program on track. Cal head coach Mark Madsen is looking to build a team that can compete in the ACC this year. Dai Dai Ames was a tremendous transfer portal pickup, and Michigan transfer Justin Pippen plays well above his size. He can thank his father for that gift. It’s hard to flip the script on a rival that has your number, but just about every player on the Golden Bears team is new and couldn’t care less about recent history. Look for the Golden Bears to build off their recent win against UCLA. Take Cal.
