Picks for 4/7/25
College Basketball

Rotation # 701
Florida -1 over Houston (win)
As much as I love Houston’s toughness and feel Kelvin Sampson is deserving of winning a title as one of the best coaches in the game of basketball, it’s hard to overlook the Cougars’ shortcomings on offense. The Gators are too talented of a team to be held down for 40 minutes of play, and I doubt Houston will be able to make it a slow-paced half-court game with the Gator’s ability to transition into quick offense. Houston would need to keep this game in the 50s to have a chance; they certainly are capable as the best scoring defense in basketball, but Florida can play solid defense as well and, by far, is the better offensive team and has the advantage on the boards. Walter Clayton Jr. is too good of a player to be held back in the biggest game of the year. The Gators are the better three-point shooting team and much better from the foul line. Houston was able to cash in against an inexperienced Duke team that couldn’t close out the game due to youthful mistakes. I don’t see the Gators falling into a massive slump in the final ten minutes. We liked the Gators to win the title a month ago and will stick with them in the year’s final contest. Take Florida.
