Thursday October 17th Betting Recap

Picks for 10/17/24

NFL
8:15 PM EST
Rotation # 311-312
Broncos/Saints Under 37 (loss)
The Broncos take to the road in a tough spot. Bo Nix is a rookie, and the passing game is limited. The Saints will also start a rookie quarterback in Spencer Rattler. The Saints’ offensive line is missing many first-string starters. The Broncos’ defense should be able to keep them to minimal scoring. New Orleans will be without Rashid Shaheed, normally a massive X-factor in the return game. The defenses have an enormous advantage over the offenses. It’s hard to predict defensive scoring, but I don’t see either QB having a big enough game to make this a high-scoring affair on a short week. Take the Under.

MLB
8:08 PM EST
Rotation # 963-964
Dodgers/Mets Under 7 runs (loss)
Yamamoto/Quintana
The Mets had a great postseason run, but they may be starting to realize they need top-tier talent to compete with the best teams. The Mets blew many opportunities to score early in the game, and then the Dodgers bullpen smothered them. The Dodgers are a warm-weather team and will get a small taste of cooler weather tonight. It will be hard to hit Jose Quintana. Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a gem in a win-or-go-home matchup against the Padres. Quintana hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last two starts. Look for tonight’s game to repeat last night without the Dodgers scoring many big runs late. The only chance the Mets have is if they are up before the Dodgers bullpen takes over. Tonight’s game should be a classic pitchers’ duel. Take the Under.
