Shane Beamer enters his sixth season after South Carolina finished 4-8 overall and 1-7 in SEC play in 2025. Kendal Briles arrives from TCU as offensive coordinator and takes over play-calling duties. LaNorris Sellers returns at quarterback with considerable starting experience and remains a significant rushing threat. In the backfield, Matt Fuller returns, while Texas transfer Christian Clark joins the group after averaging 30 rushing yards per game last season. At receiver, Nyck Harbor returns after making 30 catches, and Purdue transfer Nitro Tuggle joins the receiving corps after recording 34 receptions. Matthew Smiley takes over as special teams coordinator. Vicari Swain returns as an experienced punt returner after scoring three punt-return touchdowns last season, while Nyck Harbor brings kickoff-return experience. Mason Love returns at punter, while South Carolina will feature a new primary placekicker.
Overall, South Carolina enters 2026 with Sellers providing continuity at quarterback, considerable starting experience along the offensive line, and six of its top eleven tacklers returning on defense. The Gamecocks also added experienced Power Conference transfers at several positions, while a new offensive coordinator and turnover at several key spots give the roster a mix of continuity and change entering the season.
