Ohio State transfer Lincoln Kienholz is the projected starter at quarterback following Miller Moss’ departure for the NFL. Isaac Brown and Keyjuan Brown return at running back, while Missouri transfer Marquise Davis joins the group after averaging 67 rushing yards per game in three appearances last season. Louisville must replace leading receivers Chris Bell and Caullin Lacy following their departures for the NFL. Jaleel Skinner and TreyShun Brown return as receiving options, while Florida State transfer Lawayne McCoy and Vanderbilt transfer Tre Richardson join the receiving corps. Tulane transfer Justyn Reid also joins the tight end group. The offensive line returns one full-time starter in center Lance Robinson, who made 13 starts last season. Boston College transfer Eryx Daugherty joins the group after making 10 starts, while South Carolina transfer Cason Henry made four starts in four appearances last season.

Clev Lubin returns along the defensive front after making 12 starts, while T.J. Capers returns at linebacker after making seven. Stanquan Clark also returns at linebacker. The secondary returns full-time starters Tayon Holloway and Antonio Watts after making 13 and 10 starts, respectively, while Iowa transfer Koen Entringer joins the group.
Karl Maslowski returns as special teams coordinator with several new faces in the specialist roles. Rhode Island transfer Garth White is among the leading options at placekicker after making 14-of-18 field goals last season, while Eastern Kentucky transfer Jacob Baker is projected at punter after averaging 43.0 yards per punt in 2025. Nick Keller returns as the kickoff specialist. Vanderbilt transfer Tre Richardson brings kickoff-return experience after averaging 25 yards per return last season, while Drake transfer Jackson Voth is among the leading options at punt returner. Louisville enters 2026 with a new quarterback and considerable turnover at receiver, but returns established starting experience at several positions on defense and has added Power-conference starting experience along the offensive line.
