The Brian Daboll experiment is over in New York as John Harbaugh comes over from the Ravens organization to take over the head coaching duties. The Giants finished 4-13 last year, the worst record in the NFC East. Matt Nagy comes over from the Chiefs to take over as offensive coordinator. Jaxson Dart is back at quarterback. Cam Skattebo is back from injury and joins Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary, and newcomer Najee Harris in a deep running back room. The Giants return three of their top five receivers from a season ago and have upgraded their receiving room. Nabers returns as a starter along with Darnell Mooney from the Falcons and tight end Isaiah Likely from the Ravens. The Giants are also high on Notre Dame rookie Malachi Fields. Odell Beckham Jr. is back in town looking to revive his career. The offensive line returns four starters from a year ago: Andrew Thomas, Jon Runyan Jr., John Michael Schmitz, and Jermaine Eluemunor. Miami Hurricanes rookie Francis Mauigoa will open the season at right guard.
Dennard Wilson comes over from the Titans to take over as defensive coordinator. The Giants lost top tacklers Bobby Okereke and Dane Belton. There will be quite a few new faces on the front seven this year. Shelby Harris comes over from Cleveland, D.J. Reader from the Lions, Tremaine Edmunds from Chicago, and rookie Arvell Reese from Ohio State. Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, and Kayvon Thibodeaux return. Paulson Adebo, Tyler Nubin, Jevón Holland, Dru Phillips, and Deonte Banks return to the secondary, along with newcomers Greg Newsome from Jacksonville and Jason Pinnock from the 49ers.
Chris Horton follows Harbaugh over from Baltimore as the new special teams coach. Michigan rookie Dominic Zvada will be the new field goal kicker. Jordan Stout comes over from the Ravens to be the punter after a 50.1 average and a long of 74 last year. Banks is a dangerous return man after a 32.7 kickoff return average, including a touchdown a year ago. The Giants have gotten a major coaching upgrade. It will be interesting to see how Skattebo bounces back from his rookie-season injury and if he and Dart can avoid the sophomore slump.
