Boston College is coming off its worst season in a decade, finishing 2-10 last year and just 1-7 in the ACC. Bill O’Brien is back for his third year; another poor season would likely put his job in jeopardy. O’Brien will take over the offensive coordinator duties, as Will Lawing left the program for an NFL analyst job. Mason McKenzie is projected to be the starting QB coming over from Division II Saginaw Valley State. Last year’s featured running back, Turbo Richard, transferred to Indiana. Liberty transfer Evan Dickens and Maryland transfer Nolan Ray are the new featured backs. Boston College lost its top three receivers from a year ago to the portal and graduation and was hit hard with the injury bug, as tight end Kaelan Chudzinski is scheduled to miss this season with an Achilles injury. It’s hard to be optimistic with a new-look offensive line and a new quarterback.

Ted Roof will take over as defensive coordinator, inheriting a unit that returns 5 of their top 11 tacklers from a year ago, including top tackler KP Price. The secondary, led by Price, Carter Davis, Isaiah Farris, TJ Green, and Max Tucker, is loaded with talent. The question mark remains in the front seven, where the Eagles added a few transfers but still lack proven depth.

Luca Lombardo is a reliable kicker, and there is plenty of depth at punt and kick returner, led by Isaiah Farris and TJ Green. With heavy turnover on offense and a new defensive coordinator, 2026 looks like another rebuilding year in Chestnut Hill.
